North Richland Hills

Bates Container North Richland Hills was constructed in 1976 in a small country town in Tarrant County (in between Dallas and Fort Worth). The former farming community of North Richland Hills was quickly growing into an important industrial location in North Texas. Since then, our primary facility has grown dramatically, as has the surrounding area.

The original size of this facility, Bates Container’s only location at the time, was 97,000 square feet. This was more than sufficient for the four converting machines that Bates had then. In 1979, Hardy Sanders and Warren Bates decided it was time to take the next big leap and purchase a corrugator. This would enable us to produce our own corrugated sheets from huge rolls of paper. They purchased an 87″ corrugator, which gave Bates much better control over costs and allowed for more vertical integration. Before the new machine could be installed, an additional 68,000 square feet had to be added to the east side of the plant.

In 1985, once again, Bates went through another expansion due to the growth of the company and need for space. Thirty thousand square feet was added in order to accommodate a growing shipping department and increase warehouse space. In the mid 90′s the 87″ corrugator was mostly rebuilt and upgraded to a 98″ machine which allowed for much more efficient production of corrugated board. The most recent expansion took place when the Specialty Division was moved to its own facility outside of the corrugated plant. The space that was being used for the Specialty Division was converted into office space, nearly doubling the size of the overall administrative space to 30,000 square feet.

Currently, Bates North Richland Hills employs over 190 people and prides itself on Bates’ exceptional quality, customer service and innovative design capabilities. Outside of the corrugated box world, Bates NRH is very involved in supporting local non-profit agencies as well as the arts in Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding communities. Encouraged and supported by the late Hardy Sanders, and now led by his wife, Betty, Bates Container’s name is often seen in the newspaper or recognized at charitable events for its philanthropic efforts.
